LaShawn Brooks
LaShawn is a Health Insurance Analyst at the Center for Medicare in the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services. During her tenure at CMS, she has developed multiple utilization management models, both now being implemented as programs with the Center for Program Integrity. Additionally, LaShawn worked on frail and elderly primary care initiatives demos, participated in a beneficiary decision support technical expert panel, liaised with others to incorporate program integrity within model implementation and design, and developed the appeal process for home health value-based purchasing model. She currently works on the National value-based care program, Shared Savings Program as subject matter expert with regards to all applications matter. Prior to joining CMS in 2016, LaShawn has worked in various forms of government agencies for over 30 years related to Audit, Program Integrity, and fraud, waste and abuse regarding Medicare and Medicaid programs.
On a personal note, LaShawn is a native Baltimorean, attended Western Senior High School, Coppin State University and completed her Master’s in Public Administration in May 2020 at the University of Baltimore. She is a wife and mother of two. She loves to dance, travel with friends, and watch and commentate on all sporting events.
As the newly elected Region III, BIG@CMS Chapter President, LaShawn’s hope is to continue to support the growth and goals of the National Organization’s mission and cultivate an environment of diversity.
